Freeway once again pays homage to another great National Artist for Literature, Jose Garcia Villa in his own Freeway Art National Artist Collector’s Series consists of graphic tees, leggings, outwear, woven tops, woven dresses, tote bags and accessories created in a combination of creative graphic works and layout; and high-technology printing.

Jose Garcia Villa, also known as Doveglion (portmanteau of Dove, Eagle and Lion, which he also used as his pen name), is known for his “comma poems” and his collection of short stories. He was a literary critic, short story writer, and painter hailed National Artist in 1973.

The Freeway Art Jose Garcia Villa National Artist Collection was launched at the Legarda Elementary School in Manila, the only elementary school that stands in its original form since 1923. The Freeway Jose Garcia Villa National Artist Collection was celebrated with renowned actress Cherie Gil, known eventologist Tim Yap, advocate and musician from Hale band Champ Lui Pio, niece of Jose Garcia Villa Ms. Ruby Villa Villanueva Precilla, UP Ravens Writers Club Ms. Virgie Moreno and the students of the Legarda Elementary School.

Freeway has been successfully paying tribute and recognition to the Philippine National Artisits. Last year, two national treasures  were recognized, as the Freeway National Artist Collection Series featured the works of Literary Genius Nick Joaquin last Fall and the paintings and sketches of Visionary Master Ang KiuKok last Holiday through its limited edition fashion collection.
