January 2011 Movies to Watch in the Philippines

I am so looking forward to 2011. I am even excited to know what movies will be tentatively released this January 2011. And I think this can be a monthly post for me. In 2010, I’ve watched quite a lot of good movies and have seen movie previews that seem interesting. Since movies are what bf and I enjoy a lot, I researched online and tried to look for January 2011 movies we should look forward to. they are of different genres with good casts, stellar casts and hopefully, good stories too.

Here they are, the January 2011 Movies to Watch List:

  1. The Green Hornet (2011)
    Genre: Action/Comedy
    Cast: Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz, Jay Chou, Christoph Waltz

    In the Green Hornet, Britt Reid is the son of LA’s most prominent and respected media magnate and perfectly happy to maintain a directionless existence on the party scene-until his father mysteriously dies, leaving Britt his vast empire. Striking an unlikely friendship with one of his father’s more industrious and inventive employee, Kato, they see their chance to do something meaningful for the first time in their live: fight crimes.
  2. Gulliver’s Travels (3D)
    Genre: Adventure/Comedy

    Cast: Jack Black, Jason Segel, Emily Blunt, Amanda Peet

    Travel writer Lemuel Gulliver takes an assignment in Bermuda, but ends up on the island of Liliput, where he towers over its tiny citizens.
  3. Hereafter
    Genre: Drama
    Cast: Matt Damon, Cecile De France, Thierry Neuvic, Frankie Mclaren

    George is a blue-collar American who has a special connection to the afterlife. On the other side of the world, Marie, a French journalist, has a near-death experience that shakes her reality. And when Marcus, a London schoolboy, loses the person closest to him, he desperately needs answers. Each on a path in search of the truth, their lives will intersect, forever changed by what they believe might-or must-exist in the hereafter.
  4. Little Fockers
    Genre: Comedy/Family
    Cast: Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Dustin Hoffman

    It has taken 10 years, two little Fockers with wife Pam and countless hurdles for Greg to finally get “in” with his tightly wound father-in-law, Jack. After the cash-strapped dad takes a job moonlighting for a drug company, however, Jack’s suspicions about his favorite male nurse come roaring back.
  5. Love and Other Drugs
    Genre: Romance
    Cast: Jake Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway, Oliver Platt, Hank Azaria

    Maggie is an alluring free spirit who won’t let anything including formidable personal challenge, tie her down. But she meets her match in Jamie Randall, whose relentless and nearly infallible charm serve him well with the ladies and in the cutthroat world of pharmaceutical sales. Maggie and Jamie’s evolving relationship takes them both by surprise, as they find themselves under the influence of the ultimate drug: love.
  6. The Tourist
    Genre: Suspense/Drama
    Cast: Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, Paul Bettany, Timothy Dalton

    During an impromptu trip to Europe to mend a broken heart, Frank unexpectedly finds himself in a flirtatious encounter with Elise, an extraordinary woman who deliberately crosses his path. Against the breathtaking backdrop of Paris and Venice, their whirlwind romance quickly evolves as they find themselves unwittingly thrust into a deadly game of cat and mouse.

  4. can i just say that http://www.smcinema.com is a crappy website.. their online reservation is useless. tried to reserve two tickets there last dec 26. they successfully deducted 400+ pesos in my credit card but didn’t showed any confirmation message. nag hang lang yung website nila. when i refreshed it, walang transaction na lumalabas sa account ko. kaya ayun… pumila pa din ako sa cinema counter nila tapos nagbayad pa ulit. hassle na, doble pa binayaran ko. customer service also suck! called their hotline pero wala namang sumasagot. till now, wala pa din akong refund. stupid SM cinema website!!! @&$#*#&#!!! >_<

      Mas ok pa rin talaga ang Sureseats. Kaso kapag magandang movie, may downtime din sila. Di ko pa na-experience yung smcinema.com. Salamat sa feedback. For sure may iba rin na nagtatanong kung ok ba yun. Salamat sa pagbisita. XD

      i agree with this. i bought 4 movie tickets last february for tangled 3d unfortunately, hindi rin ako nabigyan ng confirmation code. nagtry ako magemail at tumawag, hiningi lang yung info sakin pero wala rin aksyon na ginawa. ang pangit ng service.
